First they came for the Muslims and immigrants, and we showed up at the mosques and airports and Home Depots.

Then they came for the queer and transfolks, and we elected transpeople to Congress and held Drag Queen Story Hours at libraries.

Then they came for the Palestinians and the students, and we occupied and sailed and cried and sued the pants off them.

Then they came for the Brown and Black folks, and we wore gasmasks and marched and refused to abandon.

Then they came for poor and working people, and we filled the food pantries and formed unions and stiffened the spines of those in Washington.

Then they came for me, and all my siblings said, “Not today motherfucker.”

And Earth, our mother, our beloved, said, “Soon, soon, finally, finally, you come home. Take place with me.”
